Working on our current project near Birstall.

Find out about our friendly group.
As well as practical fieldwork, we offer talks and workshops covering all aspects of archaeology.

We hold a members’ meeting normally on the third Thursday of each month, providing an opportunity to share ideas and keep up to speed with what is going on in South Leeds and the rest of Yorkshire.

Our three next meetings will be at the Rothwell Hub on:
Friday 19th January 7.00 pm
Members’ Show and Tell Evening.
Friday 16th February 7.00 pm
Before the Dig – Mike Turpin explaining Geophysical and Site Surveys
Thursday 21st March 7.00 pm
The Middleton Ice House – Rebecca Hunt and Jim Jackson

We are always looking for new members, why not contact us to find out more.

All  meetings take place at the Rothwell Community Hub

 Welcome to our web-site

We are back!!

South Leeds Archaeology is in the process of reforming following the difficult time during co-vid.

Meetings are now being planned in order to start a programme of activities centered around opportunities for projects based on fieldwork.  See the meetings panel.
Please note that our 2024 January and February meetings are rearranged to Friday evenings at the same venue due to prior bookings by the hub.
Fieldwork is planned to continue to investigate the colliery buildings at Birstall, starting Sunday 27th August.

We are also in discussions with Temple Newsom House and are planning archaeology within the park for 2024.
